About Kosuke Jamie Kanehisa

I am a doctoral student in astronomy and astrophysics based in Potsdam, Germany. When I’m not studying distant galaxies millions of light-years away, my passion is studying our more local neighbourhood through the medium of photography.

While I have a background in portrait photography from my time at university in England, the arrival of the pandemic in 2020 and my subsequent move to Germany marked a major shift in my photographic direction. My current interests lie in creating images of spaces and environments in a style I consider a mix of architecture and street photography. Human subjects are often fully absent in my photographs, which instead depict a sense of stillness and tranquility in the landscape we inhabit.
